1 Have a VR Experience at Sandbox VR
Virtual Reality or VR games are one of the newest and most techie ways to promote collaboration and problem-solving within your team while having a ton of fun. It is a fully immersive experience that allows you to work together and solve a mission in a virtual simulation world.
I personally have gone to a VR gaming experience 3 times and have enjoyed it each time. A cool place where you can play VR in Hong Kong is Sandbox VR. They have a couple of locations, but I went to the one in Causeway Bay.

2 Sing Karaoke
Karaoke might be one of the most popular things people do in small or big groups in Hong Kong. Not only does it let everyone in the team relax but also creates fun memories for the entire team. Most karaoke places in Hong Kong allow you to book a room with a set dinner. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are also available. It is a chill way to unwind with your fellow teammates in a rather secluded space where you can be loud.
Going to a karaoke room is a great alternative to a traditional team dinner. I usually go to Red Mr where the rooms are nicely equipped and come with a large selection of both English and Chinese songs. There are quite a lot of locations, and they remain open till late around 2 am. Below are some but not all locations:

3 Play Archery Tag and Bubble Soccer
One of the coolest team-building activities I’ve been to was Archery tag and bubble soccer with the wider office. The Crossfire Arena is the company that hosts these events for a reasonable price. The crossfire arena location is basically an event space where the company hosts different types of games for you. This is great for a team building event or birthday party for 30-40 people. You can play bubble soccer, archery tag, dodgeball and more!

4 Art Jamming for relaxation
Art jams have recently become quite popular in Hong Kong. And why not? It helps you unwind and relax while creating a masterpiece of your own. I think art is therapy and can help you to recenter yourself. Of course, it can get stressful if you’re a perfectionist. As an artist myself, I recommend you go into art jamming to have a fun experience instead of trying to produce come perfect end result. I’ve hosted some art jams myself and have also been to a bunch. You can easily find art jam businesses online and find what your vibes are!
5 Do a Perfume Making Class
Perfume making is quite a unique experience on its own. The instructor will give you pointers on the different notes and some history on perfume making as well. I think its a great way to do something different while also being relaxing enough to chat with your teammates. Msquare Homemade is one you can try out with your friends!
6 Play Golf with Golf Simulator
Playing golf doesn’t have to be a rich person’s sport. There are some really cool options out there that are just a little from your traditional golf courses or driving ranges. I’m talking about Golf Simulators. You get to play an entire game in an air-conditioned room that’s enabled by technology. I tried playing this “virtual” golf at the SCAA in Causeway Bay. The party package is less than HKD2,000 and is perfect for a small team.

7 Go Bowling
Bowling is a fantastic team building activity that combines light-hearted competition with the joy of camaraderie. With shared laughter and encouraging cheers, your team will bond over strikes and spares, fostering strong relationships and enhancing teamwork. I’ve been to a few bowling alleys around Hong Kong and I think you can search for the one closest to you. However, if I have to recommend a bowling alley, it would also be the SCAA bowling centre. With a large number of lanes, the alley also has a number of food options and is always a popular choice.

8 Playing Boardgames
I’ve had quite a few boardgame nights with both new friends and my work team mates. Its can end up turning into the most fun nights full of laughter, banter and funny rivalry. If you’ve not had a board night yet, you should definitely give it a try. You can either go to a boardgame cafe in your area or even play online versions of popular boardgames.
I’ve played Gartic Phone and Draw Battle which are incredibly fun!
9 Go Hiking
Hiking makes for a brilliant team-building idea, blending adventure with togetherness. As the team treks through nature’s beauty, shared challenges create camaraderie and trust. Encouraging each other up hills and celebrating achievements, the group forms lasting bonds and improves teamwork, all while relishing the great outdoors. Hong Kong is filled with hikes from easy breezy to a difficult challenge. I personally love the Devil’s Peak hike which can be done very quickly. You can also look into some more hikes with epic views!
10 Go to a Pottery Class
Pottery class is a fantastic team-building idea that combines creativity and collaboration. As teams shape clay into art, they share laughter and encouragement, strengthening relationships. Through shared learning experiences and mutual support, the group unifies and improves teamwork, all while enjoying the joy of creating together. The Circular Flow Pottery Studio comes highly recommended by a lot of people, so I’d definitely give it a go with the team!
