1 Buy a Sneaker at Sneaker Street

Whether you’re a sneakerhead or in the market for a new pair of kicks, Sneaker Street is one of the coolest places to visit in Mong Kok. Sneaker Street is actually located in the heart of Hong Kong on Fa Yuen Street. It’s a popular shopping district for both locals and tourists alike.

palermo shoes

You’ll find so many stores that sell sneakers, sporting goods and other items. This bustling shopping street is just a short walk from the MTR station, and you can easily spend an hour there.

What makes Sneaker Street particularly appealing to sneaker enthusiasts is the wide range of styles and sizes available, often including limited editions or hard-to-find releases. The competitive market also means that you can sometimes find better deals compared to regular retail stores, especially if you’re willing to bargain.

When visiting Sneaker Street in Mong Kok, be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends and during peak shopping hours. The vibrant atmosphere, along with the thrill of finding a rare pair of kicks, makes the experience all the more exciting for sneaker enthusiasts.

2 Shop at the Mong Kok Ladies Night Market

The Ladies’ Market stretches along Tung Choi Street, and it is a haven for bargain hunters and fashion enthusiasts alike. You can find an array of items, including clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories, cosmetics, toys, and home goods.

While it’s called the “Ladies’ Market,” you can also find products for men and children, so it’s worth exploring for everyone.

Night Market Bargaining

Top tip for visiting the Ladies Market, never go for the first price the vendors quote you! Whatever they tell you, you’re safe to give them a price 50-60% below the original offer. If the vendor refuses, simply walk away and 90% of the time you’ll be chased down to negotiate.

Even if there’s a rare vendor that doesn’t want to negotiate, you can almost always find the same item with another seller. The night market vendors sell similar items from the same suppliers. So you’re pretty safe to continue walking along.

Cheap Knock-off leather products

Here’s another grey area for shopping. You can usually find knock-offs or perfect dupes for real designer items. If you have an eye for designer things and wouldn’t mind paying the tiny prices, try to ask the vendors if they have the brand you’re looking for.

Fake bags at ladies market

Moreover, they usually tell you if it’s genuine leather by doing a lighter test on the leather. Either way, you’ve got nothing to lose.

Ladies’ Market Address and Opening Hours

The Ladies’ Night Market at Tung Choi Street is open most of the day but is the most lively at night.

3 Buy Cheap Flowers at the Flower Market Road

Fa Yuen Street or Flower Market Road is one of my favourite places to go plant shopping or flower shopping. You’ll find the best prices for any type of tropical plants and succulents available in Hong Kong. Read the full article on the flower market!

The Mong Kok Flower Market typically operates from early morning until late at night, with most shops opening around 7-8 am and closing around 7-8 pm. However, some vendors may stay open later, particularly during peak seasons such as Chinese New Year or Valentine’s Day.

If you’re planning to visit the Mong Kok Flower Market, it’s a good idea to check the opening hours of the specific vendors or shops you’re interested in, as they may vary. Additionally, you may be able to score some great deals on flowers and plants by visiting during closing time, as vendors may offer steep discounts on their remaining inventory.

4 Buy Affordably Priced Cameras and Equipment at Sim City Mall

Sim City is a cool shopping complex with a large number of camera and equipment stores. It is a no-frills place where you can find almost anything you need for photography at a very competitive price.

One thing I always buy from there is well-priced Instax Films for my Polaroid camera. The vendors are usually pretty honest on the pricing. However, what you can do is visit price.com and compare prices first. I even use this website to find the right shop because the prices vary slightly.

Why is Sim City so Special?

The shops in Sim City cater to a variety of interests, from amateur electronics enthusiasts seeking components and tools to tech-savvy individuals searching for the latest gadgets and accessories. It’s also a popular spot for those interested in video games, anime merchandise, and other pop culture-related items.

Sim City gained popularity among locals and tourists alike due to its unique offerings and the opportunity to find specialized and hard-to-find electronic items. Like other markets in Hong Kong, bargaining is common in Sim City, so don’t be afraid to negotiate for better prices.

5 Hang Out at Langham Place

Malls are the place to be during the hot Hong Kong Summers. Luckily for us, almost every district has a major mall filled with that sweet air-conditioner and lots of food and shops to peruse. If you’re in need of a break, just visit Langham Place for a little bit of rest. The huge mall has a food court, a myriad of restaurants and every kind of store you can think of. You can even hang out and watch a movie!

6 Drink Bubble tea and Have Street Food at Dundas Street

Dundas Street is just at the edge of the Ladies Market and a few streets away from Sneakers Street. Dundas Street is very close to Yau Ma Tei MTR Station Exit A and has so much street food to offer!

This is actually where you can find quirky street food such as fishballs and stinky tofu. Do you remember that one Jon Hamm YouTube Video where he ate interesting foods when visiting Hong Kong? Welp, it was at Dundas Street!

7 Shop Cheap at Argyle Centre

Argyle Centre is a multi-story shopping complex with a wide range of shops offering various fashion items such as clothing, shoes, accessories, and more. The mall is particularly known for its affordable and trendy fashion choices, making it a favourite spot for young shoppers and fashion enthusiasts. In fact, growing up, this was my favourite place to find affordable yet “chic” clothing and accessories. I even bought my prom dress here!

The complex is divided into two sections: Argyle Centre Phase I and Argyle Centre Phase II. Phase I primarily focuses on women’s fashion, while Phase II caters to both men’s and women’s clothing. Here, you can find a mix of local brands, independent boutiques, and fast-fashion outlets.

If you’re into shopping and want to get some great deals, be sure to check out this gem that’s mostly visited by locals.

8 Conclusion

Mong Kok is one of the coolest districts in Hong Kong. Even though it’s a touristy place, not much has changed. Teens, locals and families enjoy a day or night out at the district no matter what time of the year. Is there something I’ve missed in this article? Comment below and let me know!
