There is nothing more beautiful than Hong Kong on a clear day. More often than not, you’ll find the most fiery sunsets coupled with its beautiful skyline and serene nature.
Since the city doesn’t fall short of viewing spots whether it’s from hilltops, beaches or by the waterfront promenade, there are lots of options for everyone to view a beautiful sunset when they can. Read this article to find the best spots you can see the sunset!
1 Victoria Peak at Sunset
Victoria Peak is one of Hong Kong’s most iconic destinations both for locals and travellers. It’s the perfect place to view Hong Kong’s beauty while taking a relaxing stroll on its Circular Walk!
You can enjoy taking the Peak Tram up and take in the beauty. No matter the time of the day, Hong Kong’s iconic skyline is beautiful from up here. And of course, the sunset is breathtaking!

2 Sunset at West Kowloon Waterfront Art Park
The West Kowloon Waterfront Park is a freshly developed art park that has museums, public seating and event spaces and a large promenade facing Hong Kong’s iconic views. What makes it special is that you can sit right in front of the gushing waves of Victoria Harbour.

It is one of the limited promenades in Hong Kong that’s so close to the water without any large barriers! What’s great is the amazing and of course undisrupted sunset it gets every single (clear) day!

3 Sunset at Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade
The Tsim Sha Tsui promenade is a must-visit place when you come to Hong Kong! I grew up in the Tsim Sha Tsui area and have grown up coming here with my mum every weekend. What I love is the peaceful walk you can have along the promenade and the Avenue of Stars. There are also two big shopping malls called the Harbour Terminal and the K11 Musea.
If you’re an art enthusiast, you should check out the Hong Kong Museum of Art which has been around for many decades. It has a lot of traditional Chinese art but also seasonal exhibits from museums around the world. When I was younger, I visited the Renaissance art exhibition and it was truly awe-inspiring for me!
Lastly, don’t forget to have an ice cream at the iconic ice cream truck of Hong Kong! It is usually parked near the Star Ferry and Clock Tower and is hard to miss because of its music.
4 Sunset Hike at Braemer Hill
Love a hike? Braemer Hill is the spot for you! It’s located in the eastern part of Hong Kong and is surrounded by lush greenery and amazing views.
Since it’s facing the western part of Hong Kong, you can see some epic sunsets from this spot. Don’t be surprised if you see a bunch of photographers up there on the peak. If you love sunsets, you should not miss this spot!
5 Jardine’s Lookout at Sunset
Jardine’s lookout is a rather easy hike but it’ll reward you with some cool views of Hong Kong! Both HK Island and the Kowloon side. I love the views of Victoria Harbour from here and how similar (and tiny!) the IFC and ICC buildings look from here 😆
6 Sunset Walk at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park
Sun Yat Sen Park was my daily jogging spot when I lived in Sheung Wan. I feel truly blessed to live so close to this promenade as it always lifted my mood during the toughest of times during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s a local favourite spot and not many tourists frequent here, especially after an Instagram spot closed down to the public. Despite that, you should visit it if you happen to be in the area! The chill vibes and sunset views will surely make your day.
7 Sea Views at Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter
The typhoon shelter reminds me of Hong Kong’s fishing heritage and how deeply connected it still is to its humble roots of once a fishing village. What you’ll see is the floating seafood restaurants and fisherman going about their day.
At the same time, it is interesting to see how far Hong Kong has come with all these private yachts floating about. Of course, it’s the sunset that draws a lot of photographers to this spot!
8 Last Minute Sunset Hike at Devil’s Peak
I’ve been to Devil’s Peak a couple of times and they have not disappointed at all when it came to its sunset views. It is quite an easy hike and takes most people around 40 minutes to complete.
With an easy trail, it makes the perfect spot for a last-minute sunset hike. If you’re into trail running, it should take you no time to go up and snag that sunset view! The coolest part is its ruins which have quite a historical significance.
9 Lantau Link Visitors Centre & Viewing Platform Views
This cool spot is actually between the bridges! Namely the Tsing Ma Bridge and the Tin Kau Bridge. This cool spot is relatively empty since it isn’t easily accessible by public transport. What you can do is take a Taxi or an Uber from Tsing Yi MTR station and it’ll drop you right off at the centre.
You can either use the Uber app or download the HK Taxi App which is a cheap taxi option quite similar to Uber!
10 Mount High West
Mount High West is a step further up from the Peak! This cool hike unlocks some amazing views of the city and is even more stunning than the views from the peak circle. You won’t be disappointed if you make the trek up here.

11 Conclusion
Despite being a cosmopolitan city, Hong Kong has not lost its charm. Whether it be through its tranquil hikes surrounded by nature or calming strolls on the waterfront promenade, the city doesn’t disappoint. Hope you get to see a glamourous sunset while you’re here.
