2 Getting to the Peak Circle Walk
There are a few ways to get to Victoria Peak, check out the table below to see which option suits you best.
I began my journey by taking the train to Central Station and walking to the Lower Peak Terminus to catch the Peak Tram. You can also get there from Admiralty Station. The easiest way to get the Peak Tram ticket is by buying it online before you get there. It’s also generally cheaper to buy it online since there are discounts from time to time.

3 The Victoria Peak Circle Walk
Once you arrive at the Peak, you’ll be greeted by the Peak Tower and an adjacent shopping mall. The Peak Tower is essentially a giant mall with fashion outlets and restaurants. The top of this mall is the Sky Terrace 428, the highest viewing platform in Hong Kong offering 360-degree panoramic views of the city.
The Victoria Peak Circle Walk begins on the corner of Lugard and Harlech Road. If you’re feeling a bit lost, make your way to The Peak Lookout Restaurant (see picture below) and continue walking along the road to its right.
Since the walk is a loop, you can technically head off in any direction. However, I’d highly recommend starting from Harlech Road since you can finish the loop to the more picturesque view of Kowloon side towards the end of your walk.

This trail is super popular with both locals seeking an escape from the metropolis below and tourists appreciating the trail’s accessibility and superb views. Since I went for a walk on a weekday, it wasn’t overcrowded at all. However, if you’re going on a weekend it’s likely that there will be a lot more people.

The initial part of the trail didn’t provide many wide-open views, but the lush greenery was captivating. It’s not long before you’ll come across Lugard Falls, a mini waterfall that just keeps on going throughout the year.
Looking on the other side, you’ll be able to see the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir down below.

Fun fact, you can actually hike from the reservoir up to the peak. Alternatively, you can end your hike down that side as well if you so choose. Click on the link below to learn more about it.

There should be a slight open area from here allowing you to get a glimpse of the Lamma Power Station. This is a ~3,600-megawatt power station that first began serving Hong Kong’s energy needs back in 1982 with just a 250 MW coal-fired unit.
To reduce the environmental impact of coal-firing, gas-fired units were commissioned in 2006, with LNG transmitted from Dapeng Shenzhen via a subsea 92km pipeline. In 2010, a solar farm was installed which has received numerous upgrades over the years to output over 1.1MW.

As we keep walking along the loop, you’ll eventually come across the Harlech Road Pavillion. For those feeling adventurous, this is the point where the High West hike begins.

In my opinion, the High West hike offers some of the best views in Hong Kong. If you have the time (and energy), I’d highly recommend you complete this hike for a 360-degree panoramic view of Hong Kong. More details are in the link below.

Once your break is over, continue by heading on the path towards the right. You should see a sign indicating 2.25km that points to “Peak Tram Station”.

As you walk around to the Lugard Road side, you’ll begin to notice the stunning views of Hong Kong and Kowloon.

If you stay till night time, you’ll be able to see the entire city light up during the daily Symphony of Lights show that takes place at 8 pm.

From above, you’re surrounded by greenery on both sides.

As you make your way back to the Peak Tower, you can take photos with an older generation Peak Tram model that is displayed right outside the Peak Tower. Unfortunately, you cannot enter this tram. However, it’s still pretty cool to see how far along the Peak Tram has come since it first started.
